Series: Anyone & Everyone
Sermon: Do Your Job
Preached by: Pastor Dalton Beaty (available on YouTube here)
Do Your Job
Life gets complicated fast.
As dads, we carry responsibilities from every direction—work, marriage, finances, and raising kids who we hope will grow up to know and follow God. It can feel like everything depends on us.
And if we’re not careful, we start trying to carry weight that was never ours to carry.
But in 2 Corinthians 5, God simplifies the mission.
He doesn’t ask us to control everything.
He doesn’t ask us to fix everyone.
He gives us one clear calling:
“You are Christ’s ambassadors.”
That’s the job.
An ambassador doesn’t control outcomes—they represent the one who sent them.
That means as dads, our primary responsibility isn’t to guarantee results in our kids…
It’s to faithfully represent Jesus in front of them.
So instead of trying to manage everything…
Do your job.
Main Scripture
2 Corinthians 5:16–21 (NLT)

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
Session Big Idea
Your job as a dad isn’t to control outcomes—it’s to faithfully represent Jesus in your home.
