As we begin today and consider how we can be the dads God created us to be, God purposes for us to be, and God needs us to be for the sake of our wives, kids, and world, we need to remember where our hope comes from. We need to cling to the reality that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it and so it is in Him that our trust and dependency need to be. Today we need to put all our hope and trust in God alone for everything that we have need of. His timing is perfect and even when what is before is unknown, our hope is built on nothing less that Jesus’ blood and righteousness, trusting in the holy name of Jesus!

God knows what we have need of even before we ask. So, let’s lean in with Him as our top priority so that we can be the dads our wives, kids, and world need us to be no matter what. Let’s turn to God’s Word and hear from Him so that we can accomplish and complete the good works He has prepared in advance for us to accomplish for our good and the good of others and for His glory! What is it that you are trusting God for today? My next job is what I am trusting Him for.

As fathers striving to fulfill our roles according to God’s design, it’s crucial to anchor our trust and dependency in God alone. The Scriptures remind us that the earth and everything in it belongs to the Lord (Psalm 24:1), emphasizing the importance of entrusting our lives, families, and endeavors entirely to Him. Our hope is steadfast in Jesus Christ, whose sacrificial love provides the foundation for our faith (1 Corinthians 3:11). As we embark on this journey of fatherhood, let us remember that our trust in God’s sovereignty and provision sustains us through every challenge and uncertainty.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus instructs us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, promising that all our needs will be provided. This directive underscores the significance of prioritizing our relationship with God above all else. As fathers, we can emulate this by cultivating a life of prayer, seeking God’s wisdom, and aligning our decisions with His will. Additionally, Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding, acknowledging Him in all our ways. This verse emphasizes the necessity of surrendering our plans and concerns to God, trusting His guidance in every aspect of fatherhood.

As we endeavor to be the fathers God created us to be, let us anchor our trust in Him alone. By prioritizing our relationship with God, seeking His guidance, and surrendering our plans to His will, we can navigate the challenges of fatherhood with confidence. Let us rely on the promises of Scripture, knowing that God is faithful to provide for our needs and equip us for every task. As we trust in Him, we not only fulfill our roles as fathers but also serve as vessels of His love and grace to our families and the world around us.

Today’s Devotional:

This year, I am utilizing the 365 Daily Devotions book I received for Christmas, applying its teachings specifically in the context of fatherhood. It’s called WALKING WITH GOD by DAVID JEREMIAH. It’s exciting to learn from a new resource this year as we have tried different options the past two years and will keep working through this for 2024. Topic: FAITH AND FUNDS

Verse: 1 Chronicles 29:11 (NIV)

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

Today’s Devotional kicks off pointing to how it’s not about depending on the government or politicians but rather putting all our trust in God for everything and anything we need. It speaks to the Great Recession of 2008 and what the government tried to do to resuscitate or jump start recovery. It continued speaking about how the government went into more debt to print more money, not something we can do.

Today’s Devotional continues to point us to how we can “glean spiritual applications” from this reality. It goes back to no matter how “the money was created, measured, or accounted for, God owned it all.” Let’s be the dads who live the reality that “our hope is in the One who accomplishes His purposes on the earth through establishing and removing kings (and their policies).” It points us to Matthew 6:24 so that we never forget:

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Today’s Devotional closes with this call for us all: “When we serve God, we put our trust for everything, — including the money needed to live — in Him alone.”

“In the battle of faith, money is usually the last stronghold to fail.”
