Well it’s February 29th and my devotional I am using only has 365 days and so there is no post for today. At the same time, I fell behind in my posts and missed a few and so today I will look to play catch up and using one of the missed days devotionals. So, I am choosing to go back to the first missed day of Feb 25th.
God will provide us with the time we need to accomplish His will. Let’s choose to lean in today to make the most of what we have so as not to miss out on His plans, purposes, and will for our lives. Let us use the time we have left to its fullest, so that He may receive praise, honor, and glory through it all.
This year, I am utilizing the 365 Daily Devotions book I received for Christmas, applying its teachings specifically in the context of fatherhood. It’s called WALKING WITH GOD by DAVID JEREMIAH. It’s exciting to get to learn from a new resource this year as we have tried different options the past two years and will keep working through this one for 2024. Verse: 2 Corinthians 6:2 (AMP)
For He says, “At the acceptable time (the time of grace) I listened to you, And I helped you on the day of salvation.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation”—
Therefore, let’s be the dads who realize the day in which we live and lean into God. Additionally, let’s be the dads who share the cares and desires of our hearts with God! Moreover, let’s be the dads who pray and cast our cares on God because we know that He is listening, and His timing is perfect. Finally, let’s make the most of today for the sake of our wives, kids, and world.
Don’t put off till tomorrow what can be done today
Today’s Devotional points us to the importance of doing today rather than putting off to tomorrow. It speaks to how “the word procrastination comes from a Latin compound word pro, which means ‘forward’ and crastinus, which means ‘of tomorrow’, so moving or pushing something from today to tomorrow (or the day after tomorrow, ad infinitum)”.
Consider the impact of procrastination on others
Today’s Devotional also points to the impact of pushing things depending on what they are on others. Putting off some things may be inconvenient and yet others as described in today’s scripture points to the eternal ramifications of putting something off. Let’s be the dads who make sure we have made the most important decision of all to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and to be passing it along to our wives, kids, and world so that they don’t miss out and get left behind.
Choose today so that you won’t have to deal with the consequences of tomorrow.
27And just as it is appointed and destined for all men to die once and after this [comes certain] judgment, 28so Christ, having been offered once and once for all to bear [as a burden] the sins of many, will appear a second time [when he returns to earth], not to deal with sin, but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly and confidently waiting for Him. -- Hebrews 9:27-28
