Let’s do it! Out of the abundance of love!

Let’s make sure to get and be filled with love before we step into today so that we can do it! This morning’s verse of the day was interesting to me and so relevant that a brother of mine in Christ sent it to me via text too. Let’s do it knowing God is not unjust and will not forget the work and the love we have shown Him as we have helped people and continue to help them.

Do it in accordance with Hebrews 6:10 which says:

"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."

Ever been facing a challenge and wondered what you can do or how you can get through it? We need to lean into God and trust Him rather than our own understanding because even as today’s verse of the day from the bible.com app says “God is not unjust”. Let’s do it! Let’s be about doing the work God created, purposed, and planned for us to do. Today, let’s do it not out of anger or frustration but out of love and obedience to what God has for us.

So, let’s be the dads who get up and get going today! Let’s be the dads who trust God and move forward by faith not by sight, knowing that we make the plans and God will direct our steps. Don’t allow analysis paralysis to keep you from going and being about doing the work God created and purposed for you to do for the benefit of your wives, kids, and world and for His glory.

Do it for the glory of God and in His strength!

As I was about to jump into today’s devotional, a calendar reminder popped up and it spoke encouragement to me and so wanting to share it here too. I have it set at 7am as a daily reminder: (leave me a comment or send me a message if you would like to be added to the meeting invite or feel free to create one in your own calendar)

Subject: Be encouraged! God knows what you’re going through.

Body: Here are some good daily reminders:

1. Wake Up! Decide to have a good day.

"Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

2. Dress Up! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7

3. Shut Up! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking.

"He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!… For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything..

"Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..." Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up!… To the Lord.

"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up!… For something higher.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up!… Your Prayers.

"Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING." Philippians 4:6

This year I am using the 365 Daily Devotions book I received for Christmas and applying it towards being dads. It’s called WALKING WITH GOD by DAVID JEREMIAH. It’s exciting to get to learn from a new resource this year as we have tried different options the past two years and will keep working through this one for 2024. Topic: GET OFF THE BENCH!

Verse: James 1:22 (NIV)

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Let’s Do It for the right reasons and purpose:

Firstly, let’s be the dads who spend time in God’s Word so that we can be filled up to overflowing with His love and wisdom. Additionally, let’s be the dads who go beyond hearing the Word of God to doing it, putting it into practice, and glorifying God through our actions! Therefore, let’s be the dads who are looking to live lives obedient to God by doing what the Word of God says.

Do it right and get up off the bench

Today’s Devotional speaks to the buildup and excitement of things like a Superbowl and what would happen if the teams came out and just sat on the bench. The expectations and anticipation of the big game and how it would be met if they came out and just sat on the bench. Imagine if in life we were “prepared for this day, have all that we need to go out and do it, but are content to stay on the sidelines and sit the bench.”

Today’s Devotional is calling for us to get off the bench and get into the game of life. It’s showing us that we have what we need and just need to put it into action and do it. Let’s stop being content to be on the sidelines of the lives of our wives, kids, and world and get in the game!

Today’s Devotional closes speaking about the church in comparison to the Superbowl and how we should be about the great victory God has prepared, planned, and purposed for us to accomplish. It is calling us to “become dedicated and serious players” and get out there and do it!

Today’s Devotional closes with this question and challenge: “Are you sitting on the bench? If so, it’s time to stand up and get in the game!”

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
