Remember how we are to be doers of the Word not just hearers or readers of it? Remember what you need to do? Do you know how to do it? Remember who you are supposed to do it to and for?
Things we are to do:
Love God and Others:
Jesus emphasized the greatest commandments in Matthew 22:37-39, saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”
Prayer:
The Bible encourages believers to maintain a consistent prayer life. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Study and Meditate on Scripture:
Christians are encouraged to study and meditate on God’s Word. Psalm 119:105 states, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Fellowship and Worship:
Hebrews 10:25 urges believers not to forsake gathering together for worship and fellowship. Participating in a community of believers strengthens faith.
Forgiveness:
Matthew 6:14-15 teaches the importance of forgiveness, saying, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Generosity:
The Bible encourages believers to be generous and compassionate. Proverbs 19:17 says, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
Humility:
Christians are called to practice humility. Philippians 2:3-4 advises, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Resist Temptation:
James 4:7 advises believers to submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee. Staying faithful and resisting temptation is a recurring theme in the Bible.
Seek God’s Will:
Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages believers to trust in the Lord with all their hearts and lean not on their understanding but to acknowledge Him in all their ways, and He will direct their paths.
Spread the Gospel:
Matthew 28:19-20, known as the Great Commission, instructs Christians to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Things we should do to and for others:
Love One Another:
Jesus emphasized the importance of love in John 13:34-35: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”
Show Kindness and Compassion:
Ephesians 4:32 encourages believers to “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Serve Others:
Galatians 5:13 reminds Christians to “serve one another in love.” Serving others is a tangible expression of love and humility.
Bear One Another’s Burdens:
Galatians 6:2 teaches, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Supporting and helping others in times of need is a manifestation of Christian love.
Speak Encouraging Words:
Ephesians 4:29 encourages believers to “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”
Forgive Others:
Colossians 3:13 instructs Christians to “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Be Hospitable:
Romans 12:13 encourages believers to “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
Show Humility:

1 Timothy 2:1 encourages believers to make “requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving for everyone.” Praying for others is a powerful way to show love and support.
Be Honest and Just:
Micah 6:8 emphasizes the importance of acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.
Today’s Verse of the Day:
So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers).
Galatians 6:10 AMP
Therefore, let’s be the dads who are looking and ready for opportunities to do good! Moreover, let’s be the dads who do good out of unconditional love to all people, not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being! Additionally, let’s be the dads who do good starting in our households because God’s Word tells us to do good especially being a blessing to those of the household of faith (born-again believers).
How can we put today’s verse of the day into practice and be the dads our wives and kids need us to be? What can we take from it and put into living our lives to bring God praise, honor, and glory?
Applications of Galatians 6:10 to help us do what God asks and step up to the calling of God to be the dads:
Model Unconditional Love:
Demonstrate God’s love to your family and others without expecting anything in return. Love sacrificially, as God loves us.
Prioritize Spiritual Well-being:
Actively contribute to the spiritual growth and well-being of your family. Engage in prayer, Bible study, and discussions about faith.
Seek Opportunities to Do Good:
Be intentional about seeking opportunities to help others, both inside and outside your home. Look for ways to be a positive influence in the lives of those around you.
Be a Blessing to Your Household:
Recognize your role as a spiritual leader in your home. Bless your family through words, actions, and consistent support. Foster an environment of love and encouragement.
Show Kindness and Mercy:
Application: Extend kindness and mercy to your spouse, children, and others. Practice forgiveness and grace, reflecting the character of Christ.
Serve Your Family and Others:
Serve your family selflessly and engage in acts of service in your community. Teach your children the importance of serving others with a humble heart.
Rejoice and Mourn Together:
Be present in both joyful and challenging moments. Celebrate achievements, and provide comfort and support during times of sorrow or difficulty.
Pray for Your Family:
Make prayer a central part of your role as a dad. Pray for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of your family members.
Be Honest and Just:
Model integrity and justice in your actions and decisions. Teach your children the importance of honesty and fairness in all aspects of life.
Foster a God-Honoring Environment:
Create a home environment where God’s principles are evident. Teach biblical values, encourage open communication, and demonstrate a commitment to following Christ.
Remember that being a godly dad is a continuous journey of growth and learning. By applying these principles from Galatians 6:10, you can contribute to the spiritual well-being of your family and positively impact the lives of those around you, bringing honor and glory to God.
