It’s today and there are things to do. What is your motivation for getting out of bed and getting your day started? Why are you doing it? What is the point or purpose behind it? How did you come up with those priorities?
Is being the dads, your wives and kids need your motivation?
- Psalm 127:3-5 says, “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies in the gate”
- Ephesians 6:4 advises fathers to “not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord”
- Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it”
Is meeting the needs of your wives and kids while glorifying God what motivates you?
- 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 states that a husband should satisfy his wife’s needs and vice versa
- Genesis 2:24 says that a married man and woman create one unit, and since they are considered one flesh, the responsibility to one’s spouse comes first
- Psalm 127:3-5 says that children are a gift from the Lord and that they are a reward
- Ephesians 5:25 advises husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
- Titus 2:4-5 encourages younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands
Could it be that the motivation for how you are choosing to live is that it’s God’s calling on your life?
- Colossians 3:23-24 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving”
- Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans”
- Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”
- Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”
- Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”
