Working from home? This is how to go into the world!

It’s an interesting question that came to me based on today’s verse of the day. Since COVID I’ve been working from home, even for the few weeks when the office opened up, very few people were out and about and God led me to a new job at a new company where everyone is remote and so I continue to work from home. Don’t think I would have ever predicted it or asked for it however my wife made a comment on the weekend that made me realize it was and is God’s timing.

Find purpose in working from home

My son is in his teens now and is in high school/tech college. Had my old routine been in play, I would have left early in the morning and come home late in the afternoon for dinner and missed most of his day. Today, I work from home and am available to him and can even take a quick break between meetings to swing by and check in on him. God wanted me to be around for him and has opened the door and made a way for it to happen. God’s timing is perfect, and His plans are good!

Reach out to others with purpose and on purpose.

So back to working from home vs the call to go into all the world. Being at home like I am writing this, I get to go out into all the world by posting through BeTheDads.com and From2005ToEternity.wordpress.com blogs. Even with work, I had the weirdest aha moment when in the new company I joined that at the time only had 25 people (closer to 80 now) I was seeing more people than when I was at the former company that had over 10,000 people. It’s a culture thing where having started during COVID it requires putting in the effort to get and stay connected.

Make the time to connect

So, we can go into the world through technology given to us like Zoom meetings, Google Meets, Microsoft Teams, and more. Let’s be sharing the good news of Jesus in this world through posts, social media, small group meeting, bible studies, connecting and serving at the church, and other creative ideas God gives us. Working from home doesn’t mean you isolate yourself and stop interacting with others but rather it means you need to make the time and the effort to connect and pour out into the lives of others God brings to mind.

Working from home or not, the command is:

He said to them,
"Go into all the world
& PREACH THE
GOSPEL to all creation."
Mark 16:15

Today’s Verse of the Day:

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Mark 16:15 AMP

Firstly, let’s be the dads who find ways to connect and get out into the world in order to share the good news of Jesus! Secondly, let’s be the dads who on purpose, with purpose and for God’s purpose choose to share the gospel with everyone and when necessary, use words! Finally, let’s allow our words, our thoughts, and our actions to preach loudly the goodness of God and the good news of Jesus available to everyone as a gift if we will be receptive and receive it.

So how can we take today’s verse of the day and put it into action? What can we do even if we are working from home to be able to go out into the world and preach the gospel to all creation? How can we be the dads God created, purposed, planned, and is calling us to be? What can we do to make an impact and be the dads that our wives, kids, and world need for us to be?

Applications of Mark 16:15 that can help us be the dads even when we are or especially because we are working from home:

  • Be a Witness at Home: Begin by sharing the Gospel with your own family. Create an environment where faith and God’s word are central in your household.
  • Daily Devotions: Commit to daily Bible readings and discussions about the Gospel with your children, helping them grow in their understanding of God’s love.
  • Prayer Time: Dedicate specific times for family prayer, where you can collectively lift up concerns, express gratitude, and pray for the needs of others.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate the love, compassion, and forgiveness taught in the Gospel through your actions and interactions within your family.
  • Share Your Testimony: Let your children know about your personal faith journey and how your relationship with God has shaped your life.
  • Serve Others from Home: Find opportunities to serve your community from your home, such as participating in virtual charity events or supporting local causes online.
  • Engage in Online Ministries: Use the internet to connect with and support various online ministries and missionary efforts, both domestically and internationally.
  • Educate Your Children: Equip your kids with knowledge about different cultures and people groups so they can better understand the diverse world in which they live.
  • Foster a Missional Mindset: Encourage your children to see everyday opportunities to share the Gospel with their friends and peers, even in virtual settings.
  • Pray for the World: Set aside time as a family to pray for the salvation of people in different parts of the world, using resources like missionary prayer guides.

By living out Mark 16:15 in your daily life, you can be a dad who actively spreads the Gospel message to your family and beyond, making a positive impact on the world even while working from home.
