Will we choose God? Will we choose God’s way? Will we choose God’s will? Will we choose God’s purpose? Will we choose God’s plan? God is precise and knows what He is doing! God is the God of details! Consider His plans for getting out of Egypt! Consider His plans for the tabernacle! Consider His plans for the temple! Consider His plans for the holy items in them both! Consider His placement within them both! God knows what He is doing and as I went looking for the next devotional and gain approval to use it, I discovered it will fit in this month. It’s going to speak to us about the importance of a father being present. So as we get ready to jump in let’s choose to be the dads that our wives, our kids, and this world needs for us to be! Let’s be the dads who are able to pour out unconditional love!
Today’s devotional gets us started with the following verses:
‘The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled), ‘
Isaiah 2:12
‘But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. ‘
James 4:6-10
‘To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. ‘
Proverbs 8:13
Let’s be the dads who are interested in knowing God and sticking closer to Him! Let’s be the dads who are wanting to be in such a close relationship with God that we make time and take time to study His Word! Let’s be the dads who don’t just look for certain verses but rather look to allow God’s Word to speak into our lives right where we are based on His plans and purposes! Let’s find devotionals that allow us to read through God’s Word! Let’s find devotionals that allow us to read through God’s Word on specific themes or topics! God knows what we are going through even before we ask, we need to be ready and willing to ask! Let’s be the dads who are prepared mentally, emotionally, and physically to approach God and ask!
Today’s verses get us started with understanding the importance of us being the dads who walk in humility rather than pride. Today’s first verse warns us about the day when the prideful will be called to account and be humbled. Let’s be the dads who aren’t being driven by pride! Let’s be the dads who aren’t driven by imposing our ways on others, exalting ourselves over others, and feeling self-important!
Let’s grab a hold of God’s Word and receive God’s grace! Let’s be the dads who stick close to God rather than trying to go it alone in pride and discovering that God opposes the proud! Let’s be the dads who stick close to God and live humbly and discover that God shows favor to the humble! Let’s be the dads who submit ourselves to God! Let’s be the dads who resist the devil and his temptations so that he will flee! Let’s be the dads who draw near to God, knowing that He will draw near to us! Let’s be the dads who prepare our hearts, minds, body, and soul by washing our hands and purifying our hearts! Let’s not be doubleminded and being stuck, unable to make a decision, or wavering back and forth between decisions! Let’s be the dads who choose to walk humbly and in humility rather than prideful with laughter and false joy! Let’s walk humbly and allow God to lift us up and turn things around in His perfect timing! Let’s be the dads who humble ourselves before God rather than setting ourselves up for the fall by walking our life in and with pride!
Today let’s grab hold of the wisdom from our verse from Proverbs! Let’s be the dads who love God and hate evil! Let’s be the dads who love God and hate pride! Let’s be the dads who love God and hate arrogance! Let’s be the dads who love God and hate evil behavior! Let’s be the dads who love God and hate perverse speech. Let’s keep our eyes on the big picture and focus on how we can lead others into the presence of God! Let’s be the dads who shine the light of Jesus into the dark world so that there will be less darkness! Let’s be the dads who spice up the world like salt by connecting and being in contact with others in order to bring healing rather than temporary help and don’t lose our saltiness! Let’s be the dads who are so connected with Jesus that our saltiness causes others to thirst for a relationship with Jesus too!

Takeaways from Today’s Devotional: “IT WAS A BAD HAIR DAY!“
- Let’s be the dads who live our lives in such a way that people think our Heavenly Father is cool and they want to have a relationship with Him too.
- Let’s be the dads who live our lives in such a way that our kids and their friends realize that we are men of God: “filled with wisdom, had great respect for his upbringing, he honored God, was a very hard worker, never knew a stranger, and loved his family!“
- Let’s be the dads who love our kids, our wives, and our world so much that when we see pride rearing its head we can call it out and the fact that they need to “get rid of that pride; pride is not a friend.“
- Like we read in today’s verses:
- Let’s be the dads who instill in our kids the difference between right and wrong!
- Let’s be the dads who won’t allow pride to get us off track and will take a stand for those we love to make sure it doesn’t get a grip on them too!
- Today’s devotional speaks to use againg about if we can relate with their story with their dad.
- Today’s devotional then gives us some things to consider and reflect on:
- “A TIME TO REFLECT:”
- “1. Do you know someone in your life that is aged that you respect?“
- “2. Think about that person and what draws you to them.“
- “3. Recall a time in your life where you knew you needed discipline. Do you feel that discipline has affected you today?“
- “4. How has your parents’ discipline affected how you carried out parenthood for your children or if you are not a parent, how you treat others?“
- “A TIME TO REFLECT:”
