What type of attitude would people say you have if they were asked today? Do you have an attitude of gratitude? Therefore, today let’s decide to shine the light of Jesus into the world around us by spreading an attitude of gratitude for each person, each situation, and each opportunity that we have.
This morning, as I was awoken by my dog who wanted to go for a walk, I was praying and thinking, and at that moment, all the things I should be grateful for came to mind. So let’s continue with the theme, and moving forward, be the dads who are grateful for God, our wives, our kids, and what we can pour into this world! Let’s be the dads who choose not to be faint lights of gratitude, but rather, light beams of gratitude, shining brightly into this world!
Today’s Verse of the Day:
The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].
John 1:5 AMP
Therefore, invite Jesus into your heart so that you can be a lighthouse for the Holy Spirit and shine in this dark world! Moreover, let’s be the dads who choose to beam gratitude into this dark world so that the light and hope of Jesus can overwhelm the darkness! Finally, the light of God beaming from us will shine into the darkness and the darkness will never be able to extinguish it!
How can we use today’s verse of the day to realign our hearts, minds, and lives to God’s Will so that we can walk with an attitude of gratitude in order to shine the light of God into the dark world around us?
Applications of John 1:5 towards being the dads with an attitude of gratitude that shines brightly for God in this dark world:
- Daily Reflection: To begin each day, take a moment to reflect on this verse. Meditate on the idea that God’s light is more powerful than darkness, and let this realization guide your thoughts and actions throughout the day.
- Gratitude Journal: Keep a gratitude journal, and therefore, jot down at least three things you’re thankful for each day. This practice can help you focus on God’s blessings even in difficult times.
- Family Devotions: During family devotional times, make it a point to incorporate this verse. Engage in discussions about its meaning, and collectively explore how you can shine God’s light as a family.
- Acts of Kindness: Make a deliberate effort to perform acts of kindness and generosity in your community. Through your actions, demonstrate God’s light and love.
- Positive Influence: As a dad, exemplify a positive attitude and a heart of gratitude for your children. Teach them to recognize and appreciate God’s goodness through your actions.
- Prayer and Intercession: Lift up others who might be going through dark times in your prayers. Intercede before God, requesting His divine light to shine in their lives.
- Speak Truth and Encouragement: Utilize your words to speak truth, encouragement, and hope to those around you. As such, be a consistent source of light and positivity.
- Humility: Approach challenges and successes with humility, recognizing that any light you possess comes from God. In all things, give credit to Him.
- Forgiveness: Extend forgiveness and grace to others, mirroring how God has forgiven us. By doing so, you contribute to bringing healing to broken relationships, thus radiating light.
- Share Your Testimony: Be open about your personal experiences of God’s light triumphing over darkness in your life. Your testimony has the potential to inspire and encourage others.
Remember, the key is to consistently live out these principles and integrate them into your daily routine. By aligning your actions and attitudes with God’s will and maintaining a heart of gratitude, you can truly shine as a light for God in this dark world.
