So let’s dig in deeper as we jump into this new devotional in order to be able to learn and practice what God’s prepared in advance as good works for us to accomplish. Let’s grab a hold of these traits in order for us to be the dads, the godly dads we need to be for our wives, our kids, and our world.

‘Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. ‘

‘ “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. God’s Word is so amazing! God’s Word is alive! All scripture is inspired by God and declares His design and plan for mankind. ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.‘ 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Looking at the verses for today, we get started in Exodus where Moses is leading the people of Israel out of Egypt and towards the promised land where God is revealing Himself to them and explaining how He wants to be in relationship with them and be at the center of their lives. God is more interested in the state of our hearts! God when He asks for something, He asks for it from those who are willing, who have a willing heart. God doesn’t want to demand or force us to do something but rather He wants to be in an intimate relationship with Him. So are you ready to be the dads who put God first? Are you the dads that are ready to keep God at the center? Are you the dads who will be willing to give from what God has given you and do what God is calling for you to do and to be? Are you ready to be the dads your wives, your kids, and this world needs you to be? Are you ready to be the dads who have no other gods before the Lord? There is but one true God! We see how there are three persons but only one God! So are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you every step of every day? Are you ready to be the dads who model their lives after our Heavenly Father?

Let’s be the dads who make time and take time to get into God’s Word! Let’s be the dads who make the time and take the time to learn more about God and build a relationship with God through His Word! Let’s be the dads who get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget God’s words or turn away from them. Let’s lean in on God rather than our own understanding so that in all our ways we acknowledge Him and allow Him to make our path straight.

Let’s be the dads who spend time in conversation with God! Let’s be the dads who pray without ceasing because we are walking through this life with God all day long! Let’s be the dads who give God the praise and invite heaven into our time here on earth. Let’s be the dads who align our lives to God and with God rather than babbling or making a scene in public so that the attention is put on us. Let’s be the dads who make time away from everyone and everything to be with God and hear from Him. Let’s be the dads who are more focused on spending intimate time with God rather than putting on a show for the public that we are so religious and all that. Let’s be the dads who know God is our good Father and knows what we have need of even before we ask and so when we ask we ask believing and trusting Him. Let’s be the dads who love and trust God so much because we know that He does all things for our good and His glory. So let’s start with glorifying Him! Let’s be the dads who seek God for our provisions daily. Let’s be the dads who see God’s forgiveness for having missed the mark. Let’s be the dads who are humble enough to ask for forgiveness as well as to forgive others who have harmed us. Let’s be the dads who are ambassadors of forgiveness thanks to God. Let’s be the dads who stick so close and are in constant communications with God so that we won’t be tempted to sin. Let’s be the dads who stick so close to God that we are filled with the Holy Spirit to overflowing, not leaving room for sin to get in or temptation to trip us up. Let’s be the dads who trust God to protect us and deliver us from the devil and his evil ones. Let’s be the dads who offer others forgiveness when they sin against us because we know that then God will also forgive us. Let’s choose today to always forgive because we know that if we do not forgive others their sins, neither will our Father in heaven forgive our sins.

Let’s be the dads who don’t try to go it alone! Let’s be the dads who come alongside one another so that we can sharpen one another! Let’s be the dads who step up and step into the lives of our brothers in order to help sharpen one another towards the glory of God and for the glory of God! Let’s be the dads who are willing to deal with the pain, the friction, the uncomfortable feeling, the heat, and because we want to be sharpened! Let’s be the dads who have the character needed and necessary to sharpen one another! Let’s be the dads who are so into the word which is a double-edged sword. Let’s be the dads who hold each other accountable for our behaviors. Let’s be the dads who surround ourselves with other godly men rather than going it alone so that we won’t be tempted and the devil won’t be able to make his lies stick or seem believable. Let’s be the dads who are filled up by spending time in the Word of God and maturing in God (1 Peter 2:1-3). Let’s be the dads who find men who have been in the faith and know God’s Word and aren’t recent converts to be our mentors and accountability partners (1 Timothy 3:6). Let’s be the dads who find men who are connected to Jesus and are being filled and nourished and led by Him daily (John 15: 1-11). Let’s be the dads who speak the truth in love so that you can also help to sharpen other men (Ephesians 4:15). Let’s be the dads who look to continuously be filled with God’s presence, God’s Word, and God’s Spirit so that we can be overflowing into the lives of others. Let’s be the dads who live our lives with spiritual discipline so that we model and demonstrate how God desires for us to live in a way that will give Him the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’s name. Let’s be the dads who have accountability partners who can help keep us accountable as we go through this life. Let’s be the dads who are of good character so that we will be above reproach (1 Timothy 3:12). Let’s be the dads who are connected to Jesus, receiving the nutrients from Jesus to live our lives to the full!

Let’s be the dads who give everything we do or even are considering doing up to God! Let’s be the dads who will lean in and trust God to establish our plans in His perfect way and timing. Let’s be the dads who are committed to God! Let’s be the dads who put everything we have in front of God! Let’s be the dads who have willing hearts to answer the call of God on our lives!

Amazing all that God is able to do in and through our lives. Amazing what God’s Word can tell us and teach us as we prepare for today.
