Becoming A Godly Father – Day 3 – Good gift

Becoming A Godly Father

I am thankful that God is a good gifter for every good and perfect gift that comes from Him! I am thankful for the gift of my wife! I am thankful for the gifts of my children! I am thankful for the gift of a family, a church family, and a work family! Do you see what you have as gifts from God? Does that help you to be living a life that is filled with an attitude of gratitude? Are you missing out on the reality that God is giving you good gifts? Is impacting your ability to live your life with an attitude of gratitude? Let’s be the dads who pause and consider today all that we have to be thankful for!

Today’s devotional shares the following description with us:

Some reflections about my journey, and rediscovery of the love of our Heavenly Father, since becoming a dad to my now 4 year old daughter, Amelie Snow. I pray it blesses you.BECOMING A GODLY FATHER

Scripture from Today’s Devotional:

‘Behold, children are a heritage and gift from the Lord , The fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. ‘

Psalms 127:3-4

‘Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake? If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him. “So then, in everything treat others the same way you want them to treat you, for this is [the essence of] the Law and the [writings of the] Prophets.’

Matthew 7:9-12

As I begin today I turn to God’s Word. God’s Word is my source, it is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path! God’s Word is my sword that can cut through the noise and mess and get to the core of the situation! God’s Word never returns void but rather is alive and active!

Let’s be the dads who see our kids as our heritage and gifts from God! Let’s be the dads who see our kids as a reward! Let’s be the dads who choose to raise our kids to be healthy and strong! Let’s be the dads who help our kids to grow up well-educated, pious, and obedient so that they will be able to be “ready winged with duty and love to fly to the mark; polished and keen to grace and maintain the cause of their parents, to defend them from hostile invasions, and instantly to repel every assailant.” Let’s be the dads who are good gifters to our kids! Let’s be the dads who have the right heart and perspective when it comes to our kids so that we are dads who are good and who wouldn’t “if his son asks for bread, will instead give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will instead give him a snake?” Let’s be the dads who model God’s love and His good gifting practices! Let’s be the dads who lean in on God and trust Him because we know that “our Father who is in heaven perfect as He is, gives what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him.” Let’s be the dads who treat others the same way we want them to treat us, for this is the essence of the Law and the writings of the Prophets
