A new day and a new season begins. As I completed the previous devotion yesterday, as my younger daughter is off to college and starting training with her soccer team, as my older daughter is completed/graduated her first training class and gets ready for her next one, and as my son begins a journey of being an only child in the home, it’s important to know and understand where you are going, and so today’s devotional felt appropriate with the name True North.
The devotional is described in the Bible App as follows: “God is so absolutely crazy about His children and wants to show His love in so many ways. It wasn’t until I was a father that I understood that crazy parental kind of love, and it gave me a perspective of how He feels for us. My perspective changed further when I began to raise a little girl, and the tenderness of my heart helped me to understand the tender side of God—a side that would do anything for us because He loves us.”
Scripture from Today’s Devotional:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
““I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5 NIV
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.””
Genesis 28:15 NIV
“The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. But those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction; he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him. Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today.”
Deuteronomy 7:7-11 NIV

- Today’s devotional speaks to this love like this:
- “We are God’s workmanship. He created us so that we can walk in a relationship with him. People don’t have kids so they have somebody to pick up after. Instead, people have children out of an overflow of love for one another. We are God’s children, and it is out of an overflow of his love for us that He created us and this world we live in. It only makes sense that we invite Him into our “play,” into our lives. In John 15, Jesus tells us that He is the vine and we are the branches. Jesus wants to be connected with us and have a wonderful relationship with us.”
- Let’s be the dads who don’t try to go thru life alone!
- Today’s devotional closes speaking to relationships with the following:
- “We can include him in all areas of our lives. Our jobs – include Him. Our families – include Him. Our exercise – include Him. Our recreation – include Him. He’ll meet us right where we are, even if it’s something really silly, like holding His breath and swimming across the living room floor. He’ll do it because He loves you.”
