A Dad’s Call to Steward Time, Trust God, and Stay Faithful
Every dad feels the weight of time. We feel it in the pace of our days, the needs of our families, the pressure of work, and the longing to make our lives count. Scripture reminds us that life is fleeting, but it is also filled with purpose. Today’s passages call us to steward our days with wisdom, trust God with our plans, and stay faithful in the roles He has given us. As dads, we are not called to control everything — but we are called to walk wisely, love deeply, and lead faithfully.
ECCLESIASTES 1–4: Time
Ecclesiastes 1 — “Everything Is Meaningless?”
Scripture: “Everything is meaningless… utterly meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2)
Reflection: Solomon’s raw honesty hits hard. He’s not saying life has no value — he’s saying life without God has no lasting meaning. As dads, we can chase accomplishments, possessions, or status, but none of it satisfies the soul. Our kids don’t need a dad who has everything — they need a dad who knows the One who gives everything meaning.
Dad‑Challenge: Identify one area where you’ve been chasing “wind.” Surrender it to God today.
Ecclesiastes 2 — The Futility of Self‑Driven Success
Scripture: “So I hated life… because the work… was meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 2:17)
Reflection: Solomon had wealth, power, pleasure, and achievement — and still felt empty. Success without surrender leads to exhaustion. But when we work unto the Lord, even ordinary tasks become sacred. Your faithfulness at home, at work, and in your community matters more than you realize.
Dad‑Challenge: Do one task today with intentional worship — not for applause, but for God.
Ecclesiastes 3 — A Time for Everything
Scripture: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Reflection: God is the Lord of seasons. Some seasons feel heavy, others joyful, others confusing — but none are wasted. As dads, we often want to rush seasons or escape them. But God invites us to trust His timing and be present. Your kids need you in this season, not the one you wish you were in.
Dad‑Challenge: Name your current season. Ask God to help you embrace it with faith.
Ecclesiastes 4 — Companionship, Work, and Legacy
Scripture: “Two are better than one… a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9–12)
Reflection: God never designed dads to walk alone. We need brothers, mentors, and community. Isolation weakens us; connection strengthens us. Your family is stronger when you are connected to God and to other men who sharpen you.
Dad‑Challenge: Reach out to one godly man today. Encourage him — and invite connection.
