A Solid Foundation – We need to be building on

No matter what it is we are building the foundation must be firm. Be it our lives that need to be built on the solid foundation of Jesus who is the foundation and the cornerstone to right living. Be it our marriages which need to be built on the solid foundation of God’s Word and instruction. Similarly, our families need to be built upon the solid foundation of God’s Word. Let’s be the dads who decide to live our lives in pursuit of God’s purpose and plans for our lives. Let’s be the dads God has created us to be for the sake of our wives, kids, and the world. Today as we begin, let’s choose to build it all upon a solid foundation!

The Foundation of Jesus Christ

In Matthew 7:24-25, Jesus says, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Jesus Christ is the foundation upon which our lives must be built. Without Him, we are left vulnerable to the storms and challenges of life. As dads, when we prioritize Jesus in our daily walk, we are ensuring that our actions, decisions, and leadership are anchored in something unshakable. Building on this solid rock is an act of obedience that equips us to guide our families through both calm and turbulent times.

Marriage on the Cornerstone of God’s Word

Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to “love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” A marriage built on the cornerstone of God’s Word thrives in love, patience, and mutual respect. It’s not merely about following rules but living out the sacrificial love Christ modeled. When we, as fathers and husbands, embrace this call, our marriages become reflections of God’s divine plan, standing strong against the pressures of the world. By placing God’s Word at the center, we ensure our marriages are set on the foundation of grace and strength.

Raising Children on a Firm Foundation

Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Building a strong foundation for our children means instilling values grounded in God’s truth. As fathers, we play a critical role in laying this foundation by teaching our kids to love God, trust His Word, and walk in faith. This means modeling Christlike behavior in how we love, discipline, and encourage them. When we equip our children with a foundation of faith, we’re giving them the tools to face the world with confidence in God’s promises.

Family as a Reflection of God’s Kingdom

Joshua 24:15 states, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” The decision to lead our families in God’s ways must be intentional. When our family life is centered on serving God, it becomes a witness to the world around us. By prioritizing time in prayer, reading scripture together, and living out God’s Word in our home, we reflect His kingdom. This strong family foundation becomes a source of stability, not only for our immediate family but also for others who see God’s love at work in our lives.

Building for Eternity

The foundation we build today doesn’t just impact us in the here and now; it holds eternal significance. Matthew 6:33 reminds us to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” When we prioritize God’s Word and His purpose, we ensure that everything we build—our lives, marriages, and families—stands the test of time. Let’s be the dads who choose to build on this solid foundation, trusting that in doing so, we are securing a legacy that glorifies God and blesses future generations.

Verse: 2 Chronicles 30:22

'Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites, who showed good understanding of the service of the Lord. For the seven days they ate their assigned portion and offered fellowship offerings and praised the Lord, the God of their ancestors. '

Let’s be the dads who show a good understanding of the service of God and to God by the way we choose to live our lives. Be the dads our wives, kids, and world need us to be. In so living, we can live our lives as living sacrifices that will give God all the praise, the honor, and the glory in Jesus’s name.

Foundation for Revival

Today’s devotional kicks off pointing to “2 Chronicles is the handbook for revival.” It goes on to show how it describes “the periodic waves of revival that swept over Judan.” We learn how “one of the greatest revivals of that time occurred during the reign of King Hezekiah, who had the sense to encourage those who were teaching the ‘”‘good knowledge of the Lord.'” Let’s be the dads who like King Hezekiah “fan the flames of revival so it won’t die down.”

Foundation of Solid Biblical Teaching

Today’s devotional continues by sharing how “genuine revival is rooted in solid biblical teaching.” Without a rooting in biblical teaching, today’s devotional shares how the revival “will either fade out or turn into an ostentatious display of emotionalism and sensationalism.” Let’s be the dads who lead our families to the Word of God so that we can lead our families and that can expand out into the world around us. For revival to start with us, and expand into our marriages and families, requires that we return to God and His Word which will give us the “power and authority of God’s truth.”

• “Encourage those who teach and preach God’s Word, and respond to the Word with humility and obedience.”

“God has promised to respond with revival fire for any person who will hear, love, trust, and obey Him.”
