Be Prepared for when God’s starts to pour out blessings!

I have a lot of catching up to do with past posts and yet jumping in today I wanted to keep with today’s devotional. It’s been an interesting week with a topic of Inspire and how it has caused me to feel inspired. It included topics and posts like this:

Faith in action looks like preparation! Noah’s faith had him prepare by building an ark. The widow’s faith had her prepare by collecting jugs from all her neighbors. So today let’s be the dads who are preparing because of our faith and trust in God for the miracles He is about to do in and through our lives!

Today’s Devotional:

This year, I am utilizing the 365 Daily Devotions book I received for Christmas, applying its teachings specifically in the context of fatherhood. It’s called WALKING WITH GOD by DAVID JEREMIAH. It’s exciting to learn from a new resource this year as we have tried different options the past two years and will keep working through this for 2024. MARCHING AROUND JERICHO

Verse: Joshua 6:3 (NIV)

March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.

When God calls us to do something we need to do it! Be it back in 2013 with a Peter message to get out of the boat or a 2024 with a Jacob message of get out and go back, whatever it is we need to choose obedience in faith to what God is calling us to do.

Today’s Devotional points us to a few stories from the Bible including:

  • God told Moses to part the Red Sea – Exodus 14:21-22
  • God told Gideon to defeat a large army with only 300 soldiers – Judges 7:7-8
  • Jesus told Peter to walk on water – Matthew 14:28-29
  • Jesus told the disciples to feed thousands of people with some bread and fish – Matthew 14:13-21
  • Jesus told a blind man to go was the mud off his eyes to regain sight – John 9:6-7
  • Jesus told a paralyzed man to stand up and walk home – Matthew 9:6-7

By faith and obedience, they stepped into what God was telling them and witnessed miracles. So today, we need to trust God and be prepared, stepping out in faith and obedience to finish the work God has for us to accomplish.

All things are possible with God

Today’s Devotional speaks to the reality of God telling people to do what in their own strength is impossible but with God all things are possible. Today’s verse speaks to another command that seemed impossible and yet Joshua and the people of Israel walked around the walls of Jericho once a day for 6 days. We read in Joshua 6:2-5:

'Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.” '

Can you imagine what people were thinking or wondering both inside and outside of the walls of Jericho? And yet God had a plan. Joshua and the tribe of Israel were walking by faith and in obedience to God’s Word and got to see the incredible victory God promised them.

Don’t say no to what God is asking you, imagine what He is going to do in and through it.

Today’s Devotional closes with the following: “God may ask you to do something impossible sounding forgive an enemy, give generously to an ungrateful person, or serve at an incredibly inconvenient time. Calling Him “Lord” carries the expectation of obedience.”

“Faith is the starting post of obedience”
