Have you ever considered the astonishing benefits? As we head into the coming weeks and end of the year, it is a great time to reflect upon all that we have to be thankful for. We can also consider how worrying or being anxious didn’t provide any benefits throughout the year and as such can focus on the benefits and the goals of choosing to live more peaceful lives.
God’s Word tells us of the benefits of being thankful and peaceful:
- Glorifies and magnifies God, who is the source of all good things (Psalm 105:1-5).
- Relieves our anxiety and fills us with God’s peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).
- Refreshes our relationship and fellowship with God, who loves us and cares for us (Colossians 3:17).
- Reinforces our faith and helps us overcome discouragement and despair (2 Corinthians 9:15).
Consider the benefits of being thankful and peaceful to our relationships with others:
- Makes us more humble, generous, kind, and forgiving.
- Helps us enjoy the present moment and appreciate the blessings we have.
- Not always easy, especially when we face trials and troubles, but it is possible with God’s grace and power.
- As the psalmist says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” (Psalm 28:7)
Therefore, let’s be the dads who let the peace of Christ, that inner calmness of walking our lives daily with him be the controlling factor in our hearts! Moreover, let’s be the dads who allow the peace of Christ to help decide and settle questions that arise! Finally, let’s be the dads who realized that we are called to live in this peace as members of the body of believer in thanksgiving to God always!
How can we apply today’s verse of the day to help us be the dads who realize the benefits for the sake of the needs of our wives and kids? What can we do or put into practice to help us be the dads who live with the benefits of peace and thankfulness so as to glorify God?
