Happy Today! We get to decide! It’s ironic that both posts I am doing today incorporate the importance of humility just from different angles. The other post related to the book of Esther related to the lives of Haman and Mordecai whereas this one the verse of the day from the book of Philippians. We are faced with a choice and need to decide how we are going to live out our today. Therefore, the outcome of our decision is going to impact the rest of our lives. Choose wisely!

Decide to Serve Others:

As a dad, living in alignment with Philippians 2:5 would mean putting the needs of your family before your own and serving them with humility. This could mean sacrificing your own desires for the benefit of your family, being patient and understanding with them, and being willing to help them in any way possible.

We get to decide:

In your RELATIONSHIPS with
one another, have the same
mindset as CHRIST JESUS.

Philippians 2:5

Today’s Verse of the Day:

Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility]

Philippians 2:5 AMP

Firstly, let’s be the dads who look to Jesus as our model and example of how to live as husbands and dads. Secondly, let’s be the dads who have the same attitude in us that was and is in Jesus! Therefore, let’s be the dads who look to Jesus as our example to live our lives in selfless humility!

For example, how can we put today’s verse of the day into practice? Nevertheless, what can we take from it that will help us in our relationship with God, with our wives, with our kids, and the world around us? How can we decide to live so that God will receive the praise, the honor, and the glory because of it?

Applications of Philippians 2:5 that will help us decide how to live our lives to the glory of God and the benefit of our wives and kids and world:

  • Cultivate Humility: Model your mindset after Jesus, who humbled himself to serve others. Recognize your limitations and acknowledge that you are not above serving or helping others in any capacity.
  • Prioritize Others’ Needs: Consider the needs and interests of your spouse, children, and others before your own. Be attentive and responsive to their needs.
  • Practice Empathy: Strive to understand the perspectives and emotions of those you interact with, including your family. Empathy helps build deeper connections and fosters compassion.
  • Serve Selflessly: Look for opportunities to serve your family without expecting anything in return. Acts of selflessness can strengthen bonds and demonstrate Christ-like love.
  • Forgive Freely: Just as Christ forgave, be quick to forgive. Holding onto grudges can damage relationships, so extend forgiveness generously.
  • Communicate with Love: Use kind and respectful communication with your spouse and children. Avoid harsh words or actions that may hurt them emotionally.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate the values and principles you want your family to adopt. Live out your faith authentically and consistently.
  • Encourage Unity: Promote unity and harmony within your family. Strive to resolve conflicts peacefully and work together as a team.
  • Show Gratitude: Express gratitude to God for your family and the blessings in your life. Also, show appreciation to your spouse and children for their contributions and presence.
  • Share Your Faith: Be open about your faith in God and how it shapes your life. Share the Gospel with your family and be a spiritual leader in your household.

Choose humility over pride!

Therefore, living out Philippians 2:5 requires a daily commitment to imitate Christ’s mindset of humility and servanthood. Moreover, by doing so, you can not only bring glory to God but also foster healthier, more loving relationships with your spouse, children, and the world around you.
