Today is important! So let’s get started in the right direction! God created it and so we should realize it is important by rejoicing and being glad in it! We need to be the husbands our wives need us to be! Our kids need us to be the dads God created, planned, and purposed for us to be! Let’s lead our families well! Let’s train our kids well, pointing them in the direction they should go! Could today be the beginning of an incredible journey for us and our families and our world?

Today’s Verse of the Day:

Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6 AMP

Firstly, let’s be the dads who are involved in the training of our kids! Secondly, let’s be the dads who are teaching our kids to seek God’s wisdom in their lives! Thirdly, let’s be the dads who teach our kids to pursue God’s will for their abilities and talents! Finally, let’s be the dads who trust God to help take care of the rest and guide them and keep them from departing from His ways!

So what are ways to put into practice today’s verse of the day? How can we step up and step into being the dads who apply Proverbs 22:6 to our lives and the lives of our families?

Applications for direction to give to our kids based on Proverbs 22:6’s instruction:

  • Lead by Example: Be a role model by living out your own faith and values consistently. Your children are more likely to embrace and follow what they see you practicing.
  • Teach God’s Word: Regularly read and study the Bible together as a family. Share the principles, values, and wisdom found in Scripture, discussing their relevance and application to daily life.
  • Pray Together: Encourage and participate in family prayer. Teach your children the importance of communicating with God, seeking His guidance, and expressing gratitude.
  • Create a Loving Environment: Foster a home filled with love, respect, and kindness. Show affection to your children and teach them to love and care for others as well.
  • Encourage Questions: Create an open and safe space for your children to ask questions about faith, life, and God. Be willing to discuss and explore their inquiries, guiding them towards understanding and truth.
  • Nurture Character Development: Emphasize character traits such as honesty, integrity, compassion, and forgiveness. Teach your children the importance of moral values and the impact of their choices.
  • Mentorship and Discipleship: Take an active interest in your child’s spiritual growth and personal development. Engage in regular conversations, provide guidance, and offer mentorship to help them navigate life’s challenges.
  • Cultivate a Heart for Service: Teach your children the value of serving others and the importance of giving back. Engage in community service or volunteer work together, instilling a heart of compassion and empathy.
  • Encourage Pursuit of God’s Gifts: Help your children identify their talents and gifts, and guide them in using those gifts to serve God and others. Support their interests and passions, fostering an environment that encourages their growth and exploration.
  • Foster Independence: As your children grow older, gradually allow them to make decisions and take responsibility for their actions. Guide them in making wise choices and trusting in God’s guidance as they navigate their own path.

Remember, every child is unique, and these principles should be tailored to their individual needs and personalities. Your consistent love, patience, and intentional investment in their spiritual and personal growth will help them live purposeful lives aligned with God’s calling.
