Have you heard that words have power? Words have the power of life and death. Words have the power to bless and curse. Words have the power to build up or tear down.
Have you read ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. ‘ Proverbs 18:21
Have you read ‘ “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is recognized and judged by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man, from his [inner] good treasure, brings out good things; and the evil man, from his [inner] evil treasure, brings out evil things. But I tell you, on the day of judgment people will have to give an accounting for every careless or useless word they speak. For by your words [reflecting your spiritual condition] you will be justified and acquitted of the guilt of sin; and by your words [rejecting Me] you will be condemned and sentenced.” ‘ Matthew 12:33-37
Today’s verse of the day tells us:
Ever heard people say think before you speak? I remember hearing an acronym for T.H.I.N.K. that can go along with this so that we can be the dads who are truthful when we speak. Let’s be the dads who are helpful when we speak. Let’s be the dads who are inspiring when we speak. Let’s be the dads who speak what is necessary. Let’s be the dads who speak kindlywhen we speak. Did you catch it? T = Truthful, H = Helpful, I = Inspiring, N = Necessary, K = Kind
So as today’s verse tells us, let’s be the dads who do not let unwholesome, foul, profane, worthless, or vulgar words ever come out of our mouths! Let’s be the dads who choose to speak only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear what we speak!
