Planning something? Preparing for something?

Today is a big day for each of us and we need to consider how to be good stewards of it.

‘This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Please, Lord , please save us. Please, Lord , please give us success. Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord . We bless you from the house of the Lord . The Lord is God, shining upon us. Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar. You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you! Give thanks to the Lord , for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.’

Psalms 118:24-29

So are you planning something for today to make it count? Let’s be the dads who are planning how we can bless our wives! Let’s be the dads who are planning how we can bless our kids! Let’s be the dads who are planning how we can bless our communities!

As we prepare let’s not forget to turn to God! As we prepare let’s invite God into the mix to help us for we know that He has gone before us preparing every good works we are to perform!

‘God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. ‘

Ephesians 2:8-10

So today, as we get ready to step up and step into all God has prepared in advance, let’s not try to do it in our own ways for we know that God’s ways are higher and better than our ways!

‘“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord . “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. ‘

Isaiah 55:8-9

So let’s grab hold of today’s verse of the day that tells us:

‘A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them. ‘

Proverbs 16:9

Let’s be the dads who are sensitive to the prompting and leading of the Holy Spirit so that when we need to adjust our plans to align better with God’s will and God’s way, we are able to break from our plans and walk out the steps God is directing us to take that He has established for us!

God’s got a plan, a calling, and a purpose in your life so let’s pause to reflect on the story of Abram who became Abraham, and how it has transformed the world because he was willing to allow God to direct his steps and establish them: Wholeheartedly, let’s get ready to do it God’s Way! – God’s story through my life from 2005 to eternity… (wordpress.com)

The verse of the promised son was in today’s reading where it says:

‘But God said, “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed, and you shall name him Isaac (laughter); and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him. ‘

Genesis 17:19

The book Heaven is for Real is where God opened my eyes to the reality of my vision of four daughters while God’s Word spoke to me a promise of a son too. As I read the story about the little meeting a sister in heaven, God opened my eyes to the two babies we lost in between the two girls we have who bypassed earth and are waiting to meet me in heaven one day. I still remember the tears when I got to that part of the book.
