Finishing up our devotional yesterday and considering the devotional I did as part of my From 2005 to Eternity posts, it felt like using it (THRIVE: We need to love one another!) as our source for today’s devotional to be a perfect topic for this day and this time. To be the dads God created and purposed for us to be, we need to love our wives and love our kids! So today, we are going to jump into this subject and reflect upon how we can love one another better!
Scripture from Today’s Devotional:
God’s Word never returns void and knows exactly what we need to hear! God’s Word can cut through the noise and distractions just like a double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. God’s Word is active and alive and so we need to start there no matter what!
Let’s be the dads who unselfishly love and seek the best for our wives! Let’s be the dads who unselfishly love and seek the best for our kids! Let’s be the dads who love our wives and kids because it is a natural overflowing of love we have received from a personal relationship with God! Let’s be the dads who love our wives because Jesus loves us! Let’s be the dads who love our kids because Jesus loves us! Let’s be the dads who love and have unselfish concerns for our wives and kids! Let’s be the dads who have fervent and unfailing love for our wives and kids because we know that love covers a multitude of sins and it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly by seeking the best for others! Let’s be the dads who love, serve and seek the best for our wives and kids because we know that we were called to freedom and so we aren’t to let our freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature, worldliness, and selfishness to take control! Let’s be the dads who are kind and helpful to our wives and kids! Let’s be the dads who are tender-hearted, compassionate, and understanding to our wives and kids! Let’s be the dads who are readily and freely forgiving to our wives and kids! Let’s be the dads who forgive freely because God forgave us through Jesus! Let’s be the dads who love and unselfishly seek the best for our wives and kids just as Jesus did for us!
Today’s devotional has been provided to us by Phil who was called back in 2005 to start blogging and sharing his morning devotional time by God until eternity calls him home.
Reading through today’s devotional, here are some takeaways for me: (check out the devotional on your own too to see if you pick up other nuggets, and please share your findings in the comments)
