What an interesting question as we face the challenges and struggles of life! Are we still in the battle or have we won the war? What are you facing today? Where are your struggles coming from? Where are your challenges coming from? Have you been able to overcome some of your past challenges and struggles and stand victorious as an overcome? Are you still in the middle of the battle against other challenges and struggles? Are you able to point to and share with others the decisive victories? Are you able to share with others that the battle continues because from time to time the challenges and struggles pop up and you get defeated? Today’s devotional digs into this area of our lives and I am excited to get read and hear from God’s Word and this devotional in order to be able to learn and move forward!
Let’s turn to our devotional for today and grab hold of what it has to say as we continue to make our way through Psalm 68:

This is a reading plan for dads who want to quit porn. It was written by Keith Rose, a content creator at Covenant Eyes. Fallen Heroes looks at Psalm 68 to re-orient your perspective and teach you how to break free. It challenges you to think about heroism in a completely different way.

Scripture for Today’s Devotional:
God’s Word is so incredible because no matter how we feel or what we are going through it will never return void! God’s Word is able to get to the center of the matter because it is sharper than a double-edged sword! So let’s reflect on what God has to say today through this scripture!
Let’s be the dads who praise God! Let’s be the dads who praise God our savior! Let’s be the dads who praise God because He carries us in His arms daily! Let’s be the dads who praise God who saves us! Let’s be the dads who praise our sovereign God who rescues us from death, eternal death through Jesus Christ! Let’s be the dads who turn to God in our times of trouble and challenges because we know that God will smash the heads of his enemies, crushing the skulls of those who love their guilty ways! Let’s be the dads who realize that it is only through God that we will get to experience true victory because as we know from reading God’s Word, in the end, He wins and through the cross, Jesus has already won the victory over sin and death!

Takeaways from Today’s Devotional:
“How do you know when you’ve won the war?“
- Ever gone through something and known you won?
- Ever gone through something and been unsure of the outcome?
- Today’s devotional provides us with a few examples of when it is clear and when it is murky:
- Let’s be the dads who are aware of our situation even when it means that “the war on lust and porn is less like World War II and more like Afghanistan” and as such we are unable “to point to a single decisive victory“!
- Let’s be the dads who realize that “lust can be beaten into retreat, but it never fully surrenders“!
- Let’s be the dads who keep turning to God, crying out to Him, and asking for help because we find ourselves in situations where “like guerilla insurgents, the temptation keeps popping back up“!
- Let’s be the dads who know the reality of “habitual sins: they are destructive, they feel addictive, controlling, and always present“!
- Let’s be the dads who lean in on God more because we realize that “most of the time the sin remains in the dark and consequently the person experiences tremendous shame and guilt“!
- Let’s be the dads who allow God and His Word to define who we are rather than the sin(s) that we are battling!
- Let’s be the dads who in spite of the fact that “sins like porn can seem fairly easy to beat in any given moment” that the reality is “that’s because it just retreats and reappears later. It’s slippery to pin down and extremely hard to beat long-term.“
- Let’s be the dads who grab onto what God had to tell us through His Word today as expressed through today’s devotional:
- Let’s be the dads who realize that “God daily bears us up” as part of his work of salvation! Not just for a moment! Not just for a limited series of battles! Daily!
- Let’s be the dads who realize Jesus has conquered all sin and death through His ultimate sacrifice on the cross!
- Let’s be the dads who lean in on Him when we are being tempted or attacked!
- Let’s turn from the sin and turn to God!
- Today’s devotional speaks to it this way:
- Today’s devotional closes with the following thought and points of reflection:
- “Some days, it may feel like the Enemy is getting the best of you. But Psalm 68 says that God will deliver you on a daily basis. It goes on to say that He will drag the Enemy through the battlefield and drop him at your feet so your dogs can feast on the bones. Talk about victory! “
- “Reflections:”
- “1. Take a moment to reflect. Have you been worrying about things down the road? Does the prospect of your porn recovery a month or six months down the road seem daunting? Recovery experts tell us that this kind of worry can trigger acting out again. “
- “2. Ask God to help you focus on today’s struggle, and to set aside worry about tomorrow. Pray for victory for the next 24 hours.“
