I wasn’t really sure where this journey was going to take me or the full experience it might provide and yet God called me to start BeTheDads.com and for 2022 to start posting devotionals for dads including in areas that are challenging me. God opened doors to allow me to make new connections with some incredible people who have written devotionals we’ve been able to share here for dads. I know we aren’t done yet and even today’s devotional is just past the halfway mark of the current devotional. I am excited to get to see what God is thinking and planning for me to do in 2023, what about a podcast? Could it work? Could it help? Could I get guests? Could I make it interactive? Could it help us to be the dads God purposed, created, and planned for us to be?
Let’s turn to our devotional for today and grab hold of what it has to say as we continue to make our way through Psalm 68:
Fallen Heroes: A Devotional for Dads Who Struggle With Porn
9 Days
This is a reading plan for dads who want to quit porn. It was written by Keith Rose, a content creator at Covenant Eyes. Fallen Heroes looks at Psalm 68 to re-orient your perspective and teach you how to break free. It challenges you to think about heroism in a completely different way.

Scripture for Today’s Devotional:
We get the blessing of having God’s Word available to us in a language we can understand. Imagine if the Bible wasn’t translated into your language which is still the case for some languages. Imagine leaning on the Word of God being passed down from generation to generation, scrolls and word of mouth only and yet the power God’s Word still has had over all creation. Let’s celebrate the Word of God which never returns void! Let’s celebrate the Word of God which is a love letter to us from our Heavenly Father and an owner’s manual to us on how to live this thing called life! Let’s build our lives on this foundation in order to be able to live our lives in ways that will bring God praise, honor, and glory in Jesus’s name.
Let’s be the dads who celebrate God’s victory as He enters as a conqueror into His heavenly sanctuary! Let’s be the dads who look to God who isn’t out there somewhere but rather has chosen to come down and be with us! Let’s be the dads who accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and receive the Holy Spirit to be our comforter and our guide through our lives! Let’s be the dads who celebrate and praise with the angels of heaven our Heavenly Father! Let’s be the dads who are swift in doing God’s Word so that He will receive the honor and the glory! Let’s be the dads who are trusting God and knowing that Jesus has gone up to heaven and is sitting at the right hand of the Father interceding for us and has sent the Holy Spirit to be with us as comforter and guide till He returns!

Takeaways from Today’s Devotional:
“Capture the Full Experience“
- Ever gone through some exciting adventures or experiences?
- Ever tried to explain or express it to others?
- Did you try to share pictures?
- Did you try to share videos?
- Did you try to share souvenirs?
- Did you realize how hard it is to “capture the full experience“?
- Let’s be the dads who are looking for ways to “help our kids avoid the same pitfalls that tripped us up when we were younger“!
- Let’s be the dads who look for ways and opportunities to share with our kids no matter how hard it seems to be!
- Let’s be the dads who share how sometimes we had victories in spite of ourselves and only “by God’s grace and learned some things“!
- Let’s be the dads who look to be more than storytellers who share “some old reminiscences” but instead look into “How do I pass it on?“!
- Today’s devotional shares today’s scripture from Psalm 68:
- Scripture speaks to interpret scripture and today’s devotional shares how Ephesians 4 talks of Psalm 68:
- Today’s devotional closes with some powerful points and some questions to reflect upon:
- “Think about what this means. When the grace of God empowers you to defeat a sin in your life—such as looking at porn—God is at the same time using that experience to uniquely equip and empower you to build up his kingdom and your family.“
- “If you’re climbing the mountain of victory over porn, you don’t just have some stories or souvenirs. You have Spirit-filled gifts that equip you to help others—especially your children.“
