What an exciting week-long devotional where we can understand and grab a hold of God’s presence! What an exciting series on how God always shows up! On day 1 we kicked off the series with “Because God Always Shows Up“! On day 2 we caught the message of how “God Shows Up in the Garden“! And so I am excited to get to hear what today’s message will be.

Scripture from Today’s Devotional:
Where do you go when you don’t know where to go? What do you do when you don’t know what to do? How will you respond when you don’t know how to respond? When do you turn to God and His Word? Who do you turn to when you are looking for answers? For me, I start each day with God and in His Word because I know that He knows and He cares and that by going to His Word, it will never return void and is active and alive! I know by turning to God’s Word first to start the day will prepare me for the day ahead! God’s Word is can cut to the core of the matter! God’s Word can get to the root cause! So let’s be the dads who get started with God and in His Word and then stay connected throughout the day!
Let’s be the dads who lean in and lean on God when the pressures of the world come upon us! Let’s be the dads who turn to God for help and for answers when the people around us start to complain and turn against us! Let’s be the dads who turn to God for help and answers when we don’t know what to do and then who are obedient even if or when it doesn’t make sense, like throwing a stick into a source of bitter water! Let’s be the dads who turn to God for help and answers by choosing to listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, obeying His commands and keeping all His decrees! Let’s be the dads who turn to God for help and answers when the people around us doubt or fear and start to look at going back to how things used to be because they aren’t seeing God’s hand in action and trusting Him! Let’s be the dads who depend on and invite God into every situation we face in our marriages and our families, so that even when there is complaining we can allow God into the situation and expect Him to move and to be present in the midst of it all! Let’s be the dads who trust God enough to meet our needs for today! Let’s be the dads who trust God enough to provide for our needs even on the Sabbath because He gave us enough to get us through! Let’s be the dads who trust God for our daily bread and even pray for it daily!
Let’s be the dads who realize we aren’t alone and we aren’t going it alone but rather God is with us!

Takeaways from Today’s Devotional:
“God Shows Up in the Desert“
- Let’s be the dads who can take a breath and pray before we respond in order to ensure the right response!
- Let’s be the dads who allow grace and mercy to flow from us because we have allowed God’s love to fill us!
- Let’s be the dads who realize that things happen and before losing it we need to pause rather than overreact!
- Let’s be the dads who keep our focus on God so that we respond His way rather than our way to what our wives have said or done!

- Let’s be the dads who focus on what God has done and how grateful and thankful we are, praising and worshipping Him!
- As today’s devotional shares, it’s not as easy as it sounds and takes work:
- Let’s be the dads who realize that it’s not a new problem but that God’s Word shares with us so that we can learn from others rather than having to learn it on our own!
- Let’s be the dads who make time and take time to remember what God has done in us, through us, and for us!
- Today’s devotional shares an example of human forgetfulness when it speaks to the exiles in relation to today’s scripture when it says:
- “Remember back in the Old Testament when God miraculously rescued the Israelites from slavery and then told them he would take them to a land filled with milk and honey?“
- “The people go nuts. They can’t believe their new reality. Just days ago they were shackled slaves, and now they are free people headed to a new beautiful land. Their hearts are filled with gratitude and worship… …for a couple of days. And then they forget.“
- Let’s be the dads who don’t forget and when or if we do, let’s turn back to God humbly asking for forgiveness and allowing Him to bring healing and restoration to our souls and our lives!
- Let’s make time daily so that we can reflect upon God and His Word and what He has done in and through our lives to help us from having “spiritual amnesia“!
- Let’s make time daily to journal or log what God is saying and doing in and through our lives to help us from forgetting what He is, was, and had been doing!
- Let’s be the dads who remember “God’s goodness“!
- Let’s be the dads who remember “His saving power“!
- Let’s be the dads who remember “His miracles“!
- Let’s be the dads who remember “His promises“!
- Let’s be the dads who remember frequently so that we don’t find ourselves in a situation where we “turn our hearts away from Him and start worshipping golden cows instead“!
- Let’s be the dads who realize the importance of second chances!
- Today’s devotional speaks to God’s character and response this way:
- Let’s be the dads who realize that God wants to get closer and have an intimate relationship with us!
- Let’s be the dads who realize that God wants to get closer and have an intimate relationship with our wives and kids too!
- Let’s be the dads who look to God’s example to help us be better dads for our wives!
- Let’s be the dads who look to God’s example to help us be better dads for our kids!
- Let’s be the dads who look to God’s example to help us be better dads for our world!
- Let’s be the dads who draw closer to our wives when things get tough, heated, or stressful!
- Let’s be the dads who draw closer to our kids when they get disobedient!
- Let’s be the dads who aren’t willing to walk away or step away from our families but are more interested in building it up and making it stronger!
- Let’s be the dads who aren’t going to be out there somewhere but instead choose to stick to it and always show up!
