As we come to the close of our current devotional and consider the power of words while being a husband to our wives, a dad to our kids, and leaders in our homes and communities, let’s take a moment to reflect and do a checkup. Let’s be the dads who aren’t just going with the flow, aren’t just living in the world, aren’t just getting by. Let’s be the dads who cling to God’s plan so that we can live our lives with hope and knowing God’s got a future for us! Let’s be the dads who click to why Jesus came so that we can live our lives to the full and with the abundance God has purposed for us! (‘The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. ‘ John 10:10) Let’s be the dads who won’t be fooled or trapped by the devil who comes as a thief trying to kill, steal, and destroy us! Let’s be the dads who walk with Jesus – the Lion and the Lamb! Let’s be the dads who aren’t tricked by the devil who is looking to find who he can devour! (‘Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. ‘ 1 Peter 5:8)
The title got my attention and so I opened it up to check out what it was going to be about and found this:
In a world where communication is easier than ever, why does it seem that no one can communicate effectively? It’s hard enough to communicate the Gospel to someone based on opportunity, openness, and willingness. So let’s make the best of it and communicate with not only the Truth of God but also with the Love of God.
UNCOMMEN: Uncommen Words Of Husbands, Dads, & Leaders | Devotional Reading Plan | YouVersion Bible
Scripture from Today’s Devotional:
‘ You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.’
Matthew 5:13-16
So where do we start? Where should we start? With God and His Word! God’s Word never returns void! God’s Word is sharper than a double-edged sword! So let’s be the dads who make time and spend time in God’s Word daily!
Let’s be the dads who are salty in order to add flavor to this world, make connections and contact with this world, and bring healing and cleansing! Let’s be the dads who live our lives in ways that we won’t and don’t lose our saltiness! Let’s be the dads who are light, like a city shining on a hill, like a lighthouse that is speaking hope and direction to those in need! Let’s be the dads who shine for Jesus, reflecting the Son into the world around us! Let’s be the dads who shine so that others may see our moral excellence and our praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify our Heavenly Father Who is in heaven!
