Can you believe it we are halfway there? I only chose a 5 day devotional and today we hit the midpoint. The title got my attention and so I opened it up to check out what it was going to be about and found this:
In a world where communication is easier than ever, why does it seem that no one can communicate effectively? It’s hard enough to communicate the Gospel to someone based on opportunity, openness, and willingness. So let’s make the best of it and communicate with not only the Truth of God but also with the Love of God.
UNCOMMEN: Uncommen Words Of Husbands, Dads, & Leaders | Devotional Reading Plan | YouVersion Bible
Scripture from Today’s Devotional:
‘Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; ‘
James 1:19
God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path! God’s Word is a love letter to us from God! God’s Word is an instruction manual on how to live a life that will be full and glorifying to God! Let’s receive God’s Word and trust in Him!
Let’s be the dads who are quick to hear, listening to understand rather than listening to respond! Let’s be the dads who are quick to hear, being careful to make sure we understand what is being said and asking clarifying questions to ensure we do! Let’s be the dads who are slow to speak, not rushing to respond but ensuring we speak with words that will build up, will be the truth in love, and can be carefully spoken! Let’s be the dads who don’t lose their cool but instead are slow to anger! Let’s be the dads who are patient and willing to listen and connect! Let’s be the dads who take what we have heard and can reflect on it to be able to better understand what the other person is going through and saying! Let’s be the dads who don’t become bitter, don’t allow resentment to build up, don’t easily become offended but instead choose to forgive quickly so that no bitter roots are able to take hold and grow!
