Just For Dads: Be A Positive Christian Role Model – Day 9

Just For Dads: Be A Positive Christian Role Model

Yesterday’s takeaway was about the dangers of pride, titled “Reverend Dad”! I found a devotional that was a bit longer and that sounded powerful as a message so that it could help us learn and become the dads God created and purposed for us to be. So I chose “Just For Dads: Be A Positive Christian Role Model” because, over 21 days, we will get to read and learn about how to be a positive Christian role model for our family! Over 21 days, we will get to learn about topics like: “self-discipline, love, patience, and much more
! This devotional will not only help us be the dads but it will also help us “in our day-to-day life to show our children what it truly means to be a role model and follower of Christ in every sense“.

Today’s scripture reading:

‘A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all. The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life. In the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls, but those who would preserve their life stay far from them. Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.’

Proverbs 22:1-6

God’s Word is active and alive! God’s Word provides us with wisdom and guidance! God’s Word provides us with directions and instruction!

Let’s be the dads who are living to have a good name rather than just living to make money and accumulate stuff! Let’s be the dads who are esteemed rather than living to collect precious metals and other stuff! Let’s be the dads who are humble and live humbly because we know that we were made by God on purpose, with purpose, and for a purpose! Let’s be the dads who pay attention so that when we see the danger because we are prudent, we take refuge and make sure our wives, kids, and others around us do too! Let’s be the dads who avoid being simple and foolish in order to avoid needing to pay the penalty! Let’s be the dads who live in reverent awe of God, living humble lives! Let’s be the dads who lean in and trust in God, humbly coming and living before Him so that we may receive the reward that is riches and honor and life! Let’s be the dads who aren’t wicked because we know that in the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls! Let’s be the dads who stay away from the wicked in order to avoid getting dragged or falling into the snares and pitfalls! Let’s be the dads who pass on the wisdom and Word of God to our kids so that when they grow up they will not turn from it!
